The upper Chubb twists, eluding boulders in its bedrock bottom, but FlashFIRE is nimble, missing everything solid. She's stable too, even when an osprey startled you, snatching a brookie, just boat lengths ahead. You ran the class two riff at Averyville Road dry as a biscuit, eddying back, surfing with overnight gear aboard. Shouldered tumblehome gives a narrow, efficient, paddling station, dry, and bank-vault secure when heeled. Quick, nimble, and fun, Flash is everyones favorite single stick day paddler.
FlashFIRE is a symmetrical David Yost design
with above waterline flare carried to shouldered tumblehome; yielding
a dry hull with firm final stability. Significant rocker allows
Flash to flat turn and increases speed while arched stems help
tracking. The small hull reduces skin friction, and allows Flash
to paddle with little effort kneeling on a high seat with a single
blade or as a pack canoe; sitting low with a double paddle.
